International Dog Day - August 26th
International Dog Day, celebrated on August 26th, is a day dedicated to honouring our loyal canine companions and recognising the importance of adopting and rescuing dogs in need. It’s also an opportunity to raise awareness about the millions of dogs worldwide who are looking for a loving home
Volunteering at animal shelters or with rescue organisations can make a significant impact. Volunteers provide much-needed care, socialisation, and attention to dogs awaiting adoption, helping to improve their chances of finding a forever home.
We didn't arrive empty handed to the Wicklow shelter thanks to Harley & Marley.

Harley and Marley’s thoughtful gesture is a great example of how small acts of kindness can have a huge impact. The ISPCA and all the dogs they care for are truly grateful for this support! The ISPCA are always happy to accept animal feed donations to their shelters.
We were thrilled to give back by spending a few hours at the ISPCA Wicklow shelter last week. Our day began with some much-needed weeding along the drive, helping to freshen up the entrance and overall appearance of the shelter. After that, we had the joy of washing a beautiful litter of lurcher pups and taking them out of the kennels for some playtime and much-needed attention. It was incredibly rewarding to see the difference even a small effort can make in the lives of these animals.
The ISPCA is always in need of dedicated volunteers at their various locations, including the National Animal Centre in Longford, the Equine Rescue Centre in Mallow, the Animal Rehabilitation Centre in Donegal, the ISPCA Wicklow Centre, and with affiliated member societies across Ireland. These volunteers play a crucial role in the vital work being done to protect and care for animals in need.
