HRLocker: A Commitment to Sustainable and Inclusive Operations

HRLocker is an Irish SaaS company with a fully remote team of 45 employees. Since joining Guaranteed Irish in 2021, they’ve embedded sustainability in their business practices, aligning with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria to build a responsible and resilient business. Their focus goes beyond environmental impact, fostering a culture that values people and community.

Key Steps in HRLocker’s Sustainability Journey

  1. Alignment with SDGs and ESGs
HRLocker identified SDGs that resonate with their values, such as Climate Action (SDG 13), Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12), Reduced Inequalities (SDG 10), and Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3). By integrating these goals into their strategies, they ensure that sustainability remains a central focus, building a competitive, resilient business model aligned with client expectations.

  2. Remote Work and Carbon Footprint
Operating remotely allows HRLocker to reduce emissions linked to office spaces, though they recognise that remote work can still have an environmental impact. To address this, they partner with eco-conscious platforms like Microsoft Azure, encourage the use of energy-efficient devices, and promote sustainable practices within home offices.

  3. Diversity, Inclusion, and Well-being
Sustainability at HRLocker includes creating a workplace that values all individuals. They’ve implemented initiatives around diversity, mental health, and equal opportunities, aligning with Reduced Inequalities (SDG 10) and Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3). These efforts have fostered a more inclusive, supportive culture that prioritises employee well-being and satisfaction.

Challenges and Rewards of Integrating Sustainability

HRLocker faces the ongoing challenge of aligning with evolving global standards like ESG and CSRD, which are increasingly relevant to their clients. Though not required to report under CSRD, they recognise that aligning with these frameworks helps them stay competitive and relevant. This commitment has not only strengthened relationships with customers who value sustainability but also enhanced their brand as a trusted, future-focused partner.

Internally, their emphasis on well-being and inclusion has driven higher engagement and satisfaction among employees, underscoring that investing in people is as vital as addressing environmental impact.

Return on Investment (ROI): Beyond Finances

For HRLocker, the ROI of sustainability isn’t just financial; it also enhances their ability to attract and retain clients and talent. The alignment with global sustainability frameworks has positioned HRLocker as a reliable partner, while their well-being programs have fostered a more motivated, productive workforce. By prioritising sustainability, HRLocker has built a stronger, adaptable business that meets the shifting demands of their industry.
