We are committed to promoting sustainable business practices that align with global standards while emphasising our core values of supporting quality jobs and strengthening local communities.

Our approach to sustainability is centred about Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria, empowering our members to integrate sustainability into their operations. By focusing on these key areas, we aim to benefit both businesses and the communities they serve, ensuring a sustainable future for all.

This roadmap, developed in collaboration with KPMG, combines their top-tier expertise in sustainability with the specific challenges of our members. With their vast experience in guiding global businesses, KPMG has helped create a tool that is both forward-thinking and practical, designed to deliver real impact for businesses of all sizes.

The roadmap outlines three distinct stages to guide companies from their initial sustainability efforts to becoming leaders in the field:

Foundation Stage (5 steps): Designed for members beginning their sustainability journey, this stage builds on Guaranteed Irish members' existing commitment to quality jobs, local communities, and provenance. It ensures these efforts are carried out sustainably by introducing the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and fostering an understanding of resource use and its environmental impact.

Implementation Stage (6 steps): In this phase, members are actively integrating sustainability into their operations. This involves assessing their impact, developing strategies, engaging stakeholders, and implementing measures to improve efficiency and reduce their environmental footprint.

Leadership Stage (2 steps): Members at this stage are at the forefront of sustainability, with a focus on their supply chain and transparency in reporting. These companies are setting best practices and driving meaningful impact throughout their operations.

We recognise the diversity of businesses among our members. What’s relevant and material for one business may not apply to another. That’s why we encourage our members to adopt the principle of proportionality—taking steps that are appropriate for the size and nature of their business. This roadmap is designed to be flexible, allowing you to tailor your approach and focus on what truly matters for your operations.
