Our Story  

We’ve been producing in Ireland since 1887, and today we have two Irish factories; one  in Wexford and one in Macroom. We've not only focused on making high-quality products, but also on doing things in a more sustainable way.  

The milk in our Cow & Gate Follow on & toddler milk* comes mainly from Irish dairy suppliers. These suppliers source high-quality milk from hundreds of family farms around Ireland. 

Thanks to Ireland’s mild, rainy climate, grass grows really well here. Which means cows can graze outdoors for around 200–300 days a year. Milk from grassfed cows in Ireland already has one of the lowest carbon footprints per kilo of milk, and we’re working closely with our suppliers to keep reducing greenhouse gas emissions even further. 

Our suppliers also follow the internationally recognised Five Freedoms of animal welfare and are members of the Sustainable Dairy Partnership (SAI Platform), which supports continuous improvements in areas like climate and animal care. 

Once the milk arrives at our Macroom factory, it’s skimmed, concentrated, dried, and carefully tested at every step to make sure it meets our high standards.
